BBC Sport appears in 53 of the audited transfer rumours and is an independent origin of the reporting in 19, demonstrably the first to report it in 2. It has 2 settled cases so far; a percentage needs at least 3, so none is shown.
These figures are estimated by an automated count of the rumours we audited, not a judgement of BBC Sport, and they can contain mistakes. If something here is wrong, tell us on the contact page with the address of this page and we will check it against the sources; if the figure cannot be backed up it is corrected or removed.
One case per outlet per settled dossier, and only when the outlet is an origin of that dossier's reporting: copying another outlet earns neither credit nor blame. It was right if it reported a move that was then confirmed, or denied one that was then dismissed. Interest that never materialised is not held against it. The archive has 31 settled dossiers; these are the ones where BBC Sport was an origin. Its tier (Tier 1 · Primary): First-hand reporting from established reporters and official club, league or federation channels. Full rules: methodology.
