Tiago Gabriel

Executive Summary

Tiago Gabriel Coelho Oliveira, born on 26 December 2004, is a Portuguese centre-back for US Lecce. He is in his second campaign in Serie A after a rapid rise from Portugal and has become a regular starter in a side fighting near the bottom of the table. The defender is now tracked by clubs across Europe.

Playing Style and Key Attributes

He is right-footed and 196 cm tall, an imposing frame that dominates aerially while staying mobile. The profile is dogged rather than bulky; he loves getting stuck in and making grounded challenges that can lift a crowd. He boasts a reliable ability to win tackles, with data placing him in the 88th percentile for that action, and his upper-body strength lets him shield the ball and position himself between opponent and possession. His long stride pattern allows him to cover ground quickly in recovery situations despite his height. In possession he shows composed defending and confidence.

Career and Recent Context

He stepped up to the first team at CF Estrela Amadora in January 2024 and played 11 Primeira Liga games, scoring the only goal on 23 December in a home win over Rio Ave. The move to Italy arrived in January 2025 for a reported €1.2m after just 11 top-flight appearances in Portugal. He debuted on 12 April as an 11th-minute substitute for the injured Gaby Jean in a 2–1 loss at Juventus, with a second cameo on 11 May against Hellas Verona. The following campaign he became a real leader at the back, playing 15 times and emerging as a rare positive through composed defending while the team struggled.

Transfers and Outlook

Interest has been reported from West Ham, Juventus and Inter, with AC Milan, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich also monitoring his performances. Lecce rewarded his decision to stay with a new contract until 2030-06-30 and a salary increase.
