Marcos Rojo, born 20 March 1990, operates as a centre-back for Racing Club in the Argentine Primera División. The left-footed defender stands 186 cm and has earned 61 caps for Argentina since his international debut. Racing's exit from the 2026 Copa Argentina quarter-finals has accelerated speculation over his immediate future.
Rojo can also fill in at left-back, offering positional flexibility. Recent performances include a full 90 minutes in the 3-2 Copa defeat to Boca Juniors.
He came through Estudiantes' academy, winning the Copa Libertadores in 2009 before moving to Spartak Moscow in 2011. A transfer to Sporting CP followed in 2012, then Manchester United in 2014 for €20m. After falling out of favour, he returned to Estudiantes on loan in January 2020, made the move permanent to Boca Juniors in February 2021, and joined Racing in October 2025.
Estudiantes have formally approached his camp regarding a contract termination before the December 2026 expiry.
Argentine media describe talks for an immediate move ahead of the Copa Libertadores semi‑final.
