What we know
Argentine media describe talks for an immediate move ahead of the Copa Libertadores semi‑final.
His contract runs to 31 December 2026. The first concrete wave appeared on 29 Sep, when Goal (citing ESPN Argentina) reported that Estudiantes had opened transfer talks for Rojo’s return, Yahoo Sports (citing Goal) said the club had formally approached his camp, and espnfans.argentina added the switch could happen within hours. On 4 Oct TyC Sports wrote that Racing had accepted the offer and Rojo would re‑join Estudiantes. Yahoo Sports repeated that claim on 5 Oct, attributing it to TyC Sports.
An earlier report on 30 Jul from bobteichart.com said Estudiantes were seeking an early contract termination to register Rojo immediately.
