Kevin Viveros

Executive Summary

Kevin Stiven Viveros Rodallega, born on 26 April 2000, is a Colombian centre-forward currently playing for Club Athletico Paranaense. Having recently earned his first senior international call-up for the national team, the striker is experiencing a breakout period in South American football. His prolific goalscoring form in the Brazilian top flight has established him as one of the most exciting offensive prospects on the continent.

Playing Style and Key Attributes

Standing at 180 cm, Viveros is a right-footed attacker who combines physical presence with sharp movement in the penalty area. He excels at stretching defensive lines, frequently making runs into the channels between centre-backs and full-backs to exploit space. His finishing is characterized by composure and power, as demonstrated by a multi-goal performance against Botafogo. While his high volume of starts and minutes highlights his durability, his low assist numbers suggest that his final-third distribution and link-up play remain areas for development. Additionally, a tendency to pick up bookings indicates a highly competitive, aggressive approach to pressing from the front.

Career and Recent Context

The forward's professional journey began in the academy of CD América de Cali, followed by loan spells at Atlético FC and Leones FC. After a period without a club in 2021, he rebuilt his career with Carabobo FC in Venezuela before moving through Deportivo Cali, FK Sarajevo, and Internacional de Bogotá. A highly successful period at Atlético Nacional culminated in a €4.2 million transfer to his current Brazilian employers in February 2025. This move has proved highly successful, with his domestic performances earning him a starting spot for his country in a recent friendly against Paraguay in New Jersey.

Transfers and Outlook

With his contract set to expire on 2028-06-30, the Brazilian club holds a strong negotiating position. European interest is already materializing, with reports from ESPN Brasil indicating that Sunderland are closely monitoring his progress ahead of the winter transfer window. Given the club's history of maximizing player sales, any potential move to Europe would likely require a significant financial package.
