An earlier denial no longer counts: a later, dated report from another source overtook it. It stays in the table below.
What we know
Multiple outlets report renewed interest in Greek centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos, currently at West Ham United. Besiktas are preparing to begin talks with the club to sign the defender, whose contract runs to June 2028.
Burnley FC has also been linked as a potential destination for the defender. Both reports surfaced on 16 October 2026. MSN and Football League World echo the same narrative of club-level pursuit. The Guardian had previously expressed skepticism about the move's viability, though that earlier denial has since been overtaken. The earlier doubt from The Guardian in August 2023 has been superseded by fresh interest. No definitive decision has been reached regarding a transfer path.
Football League World maintains the situation remains speculative.
