Right-BackSwitzerland21 years oldPlays for Olympique Lyon
Zachary Athekame is a Swiss right‑back currently on loan at Olympique Lyon from AC Milan. He was born on 13 December 2004 and stands 181 cm tall. The loan runs until 30 June 2027, giving him a full season in Ligue 1.
Athekame combines pace, power and versatility on the right flank. His speed allows him to overlap and deliver direct balls into the box, while his physical frame helps him win duels and recover quickly. Defensively, he is solid in one‑on‑one situations but would benefit from sharpening his positional discipline over prolonged phases.
After progressing through several Swiss youth setups, Athekame made his professional debut with Neuchâtel Xamax in December 2022. A move to BSC Young Boys in January 2024 saw him feature in the Champions League, playing eight matches (five starts). He transferred to AC Milan in August 2025, where he appeared in 27 Serie A games, scoring twice and providing two assists. His performances earned a call‑up to the Swiss senior squad, though he has yet to debut.
In August 2026 he joined Olympique Lyon on a season‑long loan without an option to buy.
