Wesley

Executive Summary

Wesley Vinícius França Lima, right-back, born on 6 September 2003, is entering his second season with AS Roma under Gian Piero Gasperini. He arrived from Flamengo in July 2025 and has become a Brazil international. A left thigh adductor injury kept him out of the World Cup squad. He is recovered now and set to rejoin preseason training.

Playing Style and Key Attributes

Right-footed, 178 cm. He operates mainly as a left wing-back in a high-intensity system with wing-backs sitting near the penalty area to create short passing options and overlapping runs. Passing is tidy: 141 passes at 84.4% success, 8 successful crosses at 47.1%, 13 chances created with 1 big chance. Dribbling success sits at 66.7% (4 of 6) and duels are won at 55.6% (20) with aerial duels at 60% (3). Defensively he registers 9 tackles, 3 interceptions and 18 recoveries in the sample. The profile fits an attack-bolstering full-back asked to press high and combine quickly.

Career and Recent Context

Contract expires 2030-06-30. His first Serie A year produced five goals, a record for a 2003-born player, and helped the side to third place. The recent muscle issue interrupted national-team plans but he is back in training.

Transfers and Outlook

He is considered unsellable by the club and the sporting director has built a wall around him despite European interest after his first season. The club is monitoring Strasbourg's Diego Moreira for right-flank depth, which could allow a return to the right side. No release clause is public and no formal bids have emerged.
