Tyler Scott Morton, born on 31 October 2002, is a defensive midfielder for Olympique Lyon. He arrived at the club in May 2025 and has started the Ligue 1 campaign with three appearances, including Player of the Match in the 3-0 home win over Metz.
Morton is deployed in a 4-2-3-1, filling the left side of the double pivot. The analysis notes he has caught the eye in each of his three starts for Lyon and looks better than ever in his new colours. The scout report frames the assessment around his role in the midfield and the qualities that define his game.
Morton moved from Liverpool FC Youth to Liverpool FC U18 in January 2019 and to Liverpool FC U21 in January 2021. His contract expires on 30 June 2030.
He is right-footed and 185 cm tall.
Lyon were cost-effective in the summer, spending just 34% of the €106m recouped in sales, with Morton’s addition looking like a masterstroke with each passing week.
Newcastle United are monitoring Tyler Morton for a potential January move from Lyon, with every outlet tracing the story to Football Insider. His listed contract runs to June 2030.
