Troy Parrott

Executive Summary

Troy Daniel Parrott, born on 4 February 2002, is a centre-forward for Real Betis Balompié under contract until 30 June 2031. The Irish international arrived in Seville in August 2026 from AZ Alkmaar for a fee that could reach €20 million and has become an immediate contributor for Manuel Pellegrini, scoring decisive goals in La Liga and the Champions League in his first weeks.

Playing Style and Key Attributes

Parrott operates as a centre-forward with a right preferred foot and shows composure in tight situations. He drives forward with intent from distance and can finish low with precision, as seen in the left-footed strike against Lille that was described as almost Harry Kane-like for its control, shoulder drop and placement into the side netting. He also works as a supplier, receiving at the edge of the box and playing back across goal for a teammate, and he pounces on loose balls on the halfway line to create shooting chances. His movement off the bench has produced close-range finishes after defensive parries.

Career and Recent Context

He moved to AZ Alkmaar in July 2024 for €4 million and scored 51 goals in 97 games there. At Betis he made an immediate impact: he came off the bench in the 68th minute against Real Madrid and scored the winner from close range, his first goal in his third appearance. Days later he scored the winner away to Lille in the Champions League opener.

Transfers and Outlook

The move to Betis was followed by strong commercial interest from Ireland, with a sharp rise in online merchandising sales and jersey personalisations for Parrott. Media reports in Spain revealed a release clause of €100 million in his Betis contract. West Ham were previously linked with the striker before his La Liga switch.
