Timo Zaal

Executive Summary

Timo Zaal, born on 9 February 2004, operates as a defensive midfielder for Turun Palloseura in the Veikkausliiga. He has been a near‑ever‑present starter since joining the club in June 2026 and his contract runs until 31 December 2027.

Playing Style and Key Attributes

Right‑footed and 184 cm tall, Zaal reads the game well enough to cut passing lanes and launch quick transitions. His distribution stays clean under pressure, and he occasionally pushes forward, already contributing two goals and two assists this season. A willingness to engage physically shows in four yellow cards, though sharper timing in duels would cut down on needless fouls.

Career and Recent Context

Zaal entered the Heerenveen academy from SC Cambuur in 2015, progressing through the U17, U19 and U21 sides before making his Eredivisie debut against Groningen in April 2022. A move to Feyenoord U21 followed in July 2023, but his contract there expired in 2025, leaving him a free agent early that year. He signed with TPS in June 2026 and immediately locked down a starting role, featuring in virtually every league match since.

Transfers and Outlook

Consistent performances in a regular starting berth could draw attention from clubs in stronger European leagues, yet no concrete rumours have emerged.
