Rafa Mir

Executive Summary

Rafa Mir, born on 1997‑06‑18, operates as a centre‑forward for Aris Thessaloniki. His contract with the Greek side runs until 30 June 2027. At 191 cm and right‑footed, he offers a classic target‑man profile and has featured for Spain at youth level.

Playing Style and Key Attributes

Mir’s height makes him a natural aerial threat in the box, and his right foot provides a clean striking surface for both headers and low finishes. He combines physical presence with a willingness to hold up play, allowing midfielders to join the attack. The main area for development remains consistency in front of goal when service is limited.

Career and Recent Context

Mir progressed through the academies of Ranero CF, Barcelona, Murcia and Valencia before breaking into Valencia Mestalla. A €2 m move took him to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2018, followed by successive loans to Las Palmas, Nottingham Forest and Huesca. Sevilla secured him permanently for €16 m in 2021. He returned to Valencia on loan in late 2024, spent the 2025‑26 season at Elche, and joined Aris on loan in April 2026.

Transfers and Outlook

The Aris deal includes an option to buy, giving the Greek club a pathway to a permanent transfer. Off the pitch, Mir was sentenced in June to eight and a half years for sexual assault and bodily harm stemming from incidents in September 2024; he has appealed the verdict. The legal proceedings and the loan’s purchase clause will shape whether his stay in Thessaloniki extends beyond the current season.
