Pedro Ganchas

Executive Summary

Pedro Ganchas, born on 31 May 2000, is a left-footed centre-back standing 190 cm tall who plays for Silkeborg IF in the Danish Superliga. He joined the Danish club in February 2024 for a €400k fee on a contract running to December 2028.

Playing Style and Key Attributes

Xilytics classes him as a ball-playing stopper whose radar leans heavily on passing quality — rated 87 — and defensive winning actions at 59, while progression sits at a modest 34. He is comfortable stepping into midfield with his left foot, can switch play diagonally and hits the occasional long ball into the channels, but he does not carry the ball forward or break lines with dribbles. Aerial presence is a natural asset at his height, and the 22 interceptions recorded in 2024/25 show good reading of passing lanes. The clear limitation remains advancing the ball upfield; when pressed high he tends to recycle sideways or go long rather than drive through pressure.

Career and Recent Context

The move to Silkeborg brought a first full season of 35 appearances, 32 starts, three goals and a 7.02 average rating. The 2025/26 campaign yielded 2,546 minutes, two goals, one assist and a 6.88 rating, but the current term has produced only 27 minutes across five matchday squads, mostly as an unused substitute, signalling a clear pecking-order shift.

Transfers and Outlook

Portuguese clubs have tracked him since his Paços days, and a return to the Primeira Liga or a step up to a mid-table side in a top-five league would fit his profile, though no concrete bids have surfaced publicly. The next transfer window will clarify whether the Danish club view him as a squad asset to rotate or a saleable asset to cash in on while his value holds.
