Defensive MidfieldGermany19 years oldPlays for FC Viktoria Köln
Niklas Swider is a German defensive midfielder born on 5 January 2007, currently on the books of FC Viktoria Köln. Standing 188 cm and right-footed, he can also operate in central midfield or at centre-back. He arrived at Viktoria Köln in January 2026 after progressing through the Borussia Mönchengladbach academy.
The available data frames Swider primarily as a defensive midfielder, with central midfield and centre-back listed as secondary positions. No detailed scouting descriptions of his game are available beyond these positional and physical markers, so his strengths and weaknesses on the ball remain to be assessed at senior level.
After a short spell with the senior squad at Gladbach, he transferred to FC Viktoria Köln in January 2026 for a fee of €50k, where he now continues his development.
His contract runs until 30 June 2027, giving him a defined window to establish himself in the senior game. With limited first-team exposure so far, the coming seasons will determine whether he can convert his academy pedigree into a regular starting role.
Hannover 96 and Holstein Kiel are monitoring Niklas Swider, the German defensive midfielder on loan at Viktoria Köln. His contract runs to June 2027.
