Mauro Icardi

Executive Summary

Mauro Icardi is a clinical centre-forward. He was born on 19 February 1993. The Argentine striker is currently a free agent after ending his time in the Super Lig.

Playing Style and Key Attributes

Icardi operates primarily as a penalty box specialist. He doesn't need many touches to be lethal. His game reading is elite, which allows him to anticipate exactly where the ball will drop. He uses his right foot with high precision, often finishing from tight angles. At 181 cm, he is an effective threat in the air. However, the high press isn't his natural habitat. He prefers to conserve energy for that decisive final movement.

Career and Recent Context

After stints at Sampdoria in 2011, he joined Inter Milan in 2013 for €13m. He eventually found stability at Galatasaray, moving initially in 2022 and permanently in 2023 for €10m. There he proved he still possesses the edge. In the 2025/2026 season, he netted 14 goals in 1313 minutes.

Transfers and Outlook

Icardi is now without a club. Clubs looking for an experienced poacher are reportedly watching the situation. There is no release clause to navigate. His next move will depend on finding a project that can guarantee him consistent starting minutes.
