Attacking MidfieldFinland23 years oldPlays for Ilves Tampere
Maksim Stjopin is an attacking midfielder for Ilves Tampere. Born on 8 April 2003, he moved from Estonia to Finland as a toddler and now brings technical versatility to the Finnish Veikkausliiga. He is currently under contract until the end of 2026.
Stjopin operates as a left-footed attacking midfielder but can also drift wide to play as a winger. He shows confidence in tight spaces, often taking on defenders directly. His game relies on technical ability rather than brute physicality, which can be a limitation against high-pressing defenses.
He began his journey at Ilves Tampere, moving from the youth setup to the senior team in January 2020. A transfer to FC Nordsjælland followed in 2021, where he progressed through the academy to the first team by 2022. He rejoined Ilves in January 2024 and has since established himself as a key figure for the club.
Stjopin extended his contract with Ilves in May 2025, securing his future until the end of 2026. No release clauses are currently public.
AIK are targeting Ilves midfielder Maksim Stjopin for next season, with the player’s contract at Ilves running to 31 December 2026.
