Joy-Lance Mickels is a left winger for Sabah FK. He was born on 29 March 1994.
Mickels operates primarily from the left but can drift centrally or play as a striker. He uses both feet with equal efficiency, making him unpredictable when cutting inside. At 183 cm, he possesses the physical frame to hold off defenders under pressure. He shows a sharp instinct in front of goal honed during his prolific youth years. His versatility allows managers to rotate him across the frontline effectively.
His journey began in the German youth system, moving from VSF Amern to Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2005. After spending time in the reserve and regional leagues with Schalke 04 II and Alemannia Aachen, he moved to Sabah in 2021. Since his return, he has been a regular starter, recently scoring against Slavia Prague in the Conference League.
He remains under contract with Sabah FK until 30 June 2027. His performance in European qualifiers has raised his profile beyond the domestic league. No specific release clauses are currently linked as the club focuses on his current role in the squad.
Borussia Mönchengladbach are considering Joy-Lance Mickels for a potential move. The Rwandan left springer currently plays for Sabah FK.
