Josh Acheampong

Executive Summary

He is contracted until June 2029 and has featured in the early weeks of the 2026-27 Premier League season.

Playing Style and Key Attributes

Tactical analysis identifies his natural role as a right centre-back where his acceleration and press resistance are maximised, though he operates comfortably in both a back four and a back three. His ball-carrying out from the back adds a progressive dimension, and he reads the game well enough to step into midfield pockets when space opens. Physical reliability against seasoned Premier League strikers can be a limiting factor when deployed centrally.

Career and Recent Context

The current season has brought 401 Premier League minutes across six appearances, including full 90-minute outings against Everton, Bournemouth, Leeds and Arsenal, plus three England U21 caps in September.

Transfers and Outlook

Interest from Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain has been reported, though the long-term contract and academy roots suggest the club is in a strong negotiating position. Regular minutes under the current manager will likely determine whether he pushes for a permanent starting berth or attracts a serious bid next summer.
