Jasper Cillessen, a Dutch goalkeeper born on 22 April 1989, left NEC Nijmegen in January 2026 and is currently without a club.
He is a right‑footed shot‑stopper standing 187 cm tall, a build that supports both aerial presence and quick reactions across the line.
Cillessen progressed through the youth set‑up at De Treffers and NEC, breaking into the senior side in 2010 before a €3.2 million move to Ajax in 2011. A €13 million transfer took him to Barcelona in 2016, followed by a €35 million switch to Valencia in 2019 where he spent three seasons in La Liga. He returned to NEC for €1 million in 2022, had a brief half‑year spell at Las Palmas for €0.5 million in early 2024, rejoined NEC in 2025, and departed again in January 2026.
His availability on a free transfer makes him a realistic short‑term option for any side seeking an experienced goalkeeper; clubs in need of immediate reliability will likely keep him on their radar.
