Jamie Gittens, born on 8 August 2004, is a right-footed left winger currently at Chelsea FC on a contract running to June 2032. He rejoined the club in May 2025 for a €56 million fee after five years in the Bundesliga.
Gittens hugs the touchline on his wrong foot before cutting inside, turning his strong side into a shooting angle. His signature move is a first touch that squares him up for a 1v1, then explosive acceleration past the defender. Bundesliga tracking from 2024/25 clocked a top speed of 35.96 km/h and 648 sprints across 32 matches. That season he added eight goals and three assists, showing improved end product alongside the dribbling. Aerial duels remain marginal at his height.
In September 2020 he left for Borussia Dortmund's U19 side. A senior debut followed in January 2022, with minutes accumulating steadily before the 2024/25 campaign became his breakout year — regular starts, consistent goal involvement, and a Champions League round-of-16 run.
Throughout the summer 2026 window Chelsea held talks with Roma over a potential sale, running parallel to but independent of their pursuit of Manu Koné. Discussions remained active into early September without reaching agreement. With a contract stretching to 2032 the club retains strong leverage; whether Gittens stays to fight for minutes or departs in a future window will depend on his early-season role and the hierarchy's evolving squad plans
The Guardian first mentioned a possible loan Corriere dello Sport wrote on 24 Aug that Roma had proposed €3m up front plus a €40m obligation, only for Chelsea to reject it as insufficient; the same paper added on 29 Aug…
