Jakov Puljic

Executive Summary

Jakov Puljić is a Croatian centre-forward for HNK Rijeka. Born on 4 August 1993, he is back at the club after a spell away and is operating in a rotational role in the 2026/2027 HNL campaign.

Playing Style and Key Attributes

At 187 cm he offers a physical presence in the penalty area and is comfortable with both feet. He is most effective arriving late for cutbacks and far-post deliveries, with a profile that benefits from a passer underneath and overlapping support on either side. Isolation against a set defensive line reduces his influence, and he loses quality when first touch is forced away from goal or onto a weaker release lane. Service from creators and quick switches into half-spaces are the conditions where he finds space.

Career and Recent Context

Puljić came through the youth ranks of Cibalia Vinkovci before moving to Lokomotiva Zagreb in 2015 for €65k. He joined Rijeka from Inker in 2017, then left for Jagiellonia Bialystok in March 2020 for €500k and Puskás Akadémia in February 2021 for €300k. After a stint at HNK Vukovar 1991 in July 2025 he returned to Rijeka in January 2026. In the current league season he has logged 247 minutes, one goal and two yellow cards, with appearances mostly as a substitute.

Transfers and Outlook

Puljić is contracted to Rijeka until 30 June 2028. No concrete interest or rumours are reported at present. His experience provides depth to the attacking rotation as the club manages minutes across league and cup commitments.
