Gustavo Sá

Executive Summary

Gustavo Filipe Alves de Freitas Azevedo e Sá represents the next wave of Portuguese playmaking talent. Born on 11 November 2004, the midfielder currently plays for Greek giants Olympiacos Piraeus, where he arrived during a busy summer window. He operates primarily as an attacking midfielder, bringing a blend of technical security and physical presence to the final third.

Playing Style and Key Attributes

Standing 189 cm tall, he offers a rare physical profile for a creative midfielder. He is right-footed. His size helps him shield the ball in tight spaces before distributing. He excels at operating between the lines, linking the midfield to the forward line with clever, progressive passes. While his physical stature makes him a threat in aerial duels, he remains highly mobile. His early league matches showed this versatility, highlighted by a goal against AE Larissa, though a recent hamstring injury has temporarily halted his momentum.

Career and Recent Context

His development began in the FC Porto youth system before he moved to FC Famalicão in 2018. The talent was clear. After establishing himself in the Primeira Liga, Nottingham Forest secured his registration in July 2026 for a €20 million fee, immediately routing him to his current team. His start in Greece has been disrupted by a calf issue that transitioned into a secondary muscle strain. He is currently undergoing a conservative rehabilitation program, aiming to return for the upcoming derby against Panathinaikos under manager Imanol Alguacil.

Transfers and Outlook

With his contract expiring on 30 June 2027, the upcoming months will dictate his next step.
