Daniel Carvajal Ramos, born on 11 January 1992, is a right‑back who now finds himself without a club. After more than two decades linked to Real Madrid, his contract expired in January 2026 and he entered free agency. The Spanish international remains available for clubs seeking an experienced defender.
A right‑footed player standing 173 cm tall, Carvajal combines tenacity with relentless stamina. His defensive work‑rate is evident in tight marking and quick recovery runs, while his forward thrust produces accurate crosses from the flank. The lack of height limits his aerial dominance, a point that opponents sometimes exploit. Nevertheless, his positional sense and ability to link defense with attack keep him valuable in systems that demand overlapping full‑backs.
Carvajal progressed through Real Madrid’s youth ranks from 2008 to 2010 before earning a place in Castilla. A €5 million transfer to Bayer Leverkusen in November 2012 was followed by a €6.5 million buy‑back in January 2013, after which he cemented a first‑team role that yielded 27 major trophies, including four La Liga titles and six Champions League crowns. In January 2026 he left the Bernabéu as a free agent, ending a 20‑year association with the club.
As a free agent, he can negotiate directly with interested parties; clubs needing a seasoned, tactically aware full‑back are expected to monitor his situation closely.
Getafe are being linked with right-back Daniel Carvajal as a free agent, with reports describing negotiations for a permanent signing rather than a loan.
