Right-BackPortugal18 years oldPlays for SL Benfica
Daniel Armando Fonseca da Silva Banjaqui, born on 24 March 2008, operates as a right-back for SL Benfica. The teenager has forced his way into first-team calculations this season. He combines rare physical maturity with academy polish.
The Guardian described him as a true locomotive, a fast and powerful full-back. He stands 184 cm tall and favours his right foot. Passing hit 82 percent against Milan, suggesting composure under pressure. The next step is sustaining that output across a full domestic campaign.
He arrived at the Seixal campus from Real SC in January 2018 and climbed the age groups methodically. Promotion to Benfica B came in January 2025; the senior squad followed twelve months later. A Taça de Portugal cameo against Farense in December 2025 preceded a league debut versus Estrela da Amadora where he assisted Anísio Cabral. International honours include the U17 European title and World Cup crown in 2025, the former earning him a Team of the Tournament nod. A fresh five-year deal signed in April 2026 locks him in until June 2031.
Benfica value the asset at €10 million as of September, a tenfold jump since December. Liverpool are monitoring the situation closely with a view to a long-term successor at right-back. The Lisbon hierarchy have reportedly set a €50 million floor. Arsenal tested the water with a €30 million package in the summer and were turned away. With the contract stretching to 2031, the selling club holds every card.
