Conor Gallagher, born on 6 February 2000, is a right‑footed central midfielder who stands 182 cm tall. He joined Tottenham Hotspur in January 2026 on a contract that runs until 30 June 2031.
Under Roberto De Zerbi he has been used as an industrious number 10 in a 4‑2‑3‑1, tasked with initiating a high press against possession‑heavy opponents. His energy lets him disrupt build‑up play and make late runs into the box, where he adds a goal threat. Passing is reliable – a pre‑season friendly showed an 87 % completion rate – but his creative output remains modest compared with a classic playmaker, and he can be exposed when the press is bypassed.
He returned to England in January 2026 to sign for Tottenham, arriving as De Zerbi took charge and the club invested heavily in midfield reinforcements such as Matheus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali. Gallagher described the environment as a “fresh start” and has embraced the new tactical demands despite the added competition. Internationally he has 22 England caps, though only one appearance under Thomas Tuchel; regular club minutes are seen as his pathway back into the national setup.
The €42 m outlay to bring him to Atlético and the subsequent €40 m switch to Spurs underline his reputation as a high‑work‑rate midfielder with proven Premier League pedigree. His long‑term deal at Tottenham provides stability, yet the club’s heavy spending in central midfield means he must sustain the pressing intensity De Zerbi demands to hold a starting spot. Consistent performances could revive his England prospects ahead of the next major tournament.
Leeds United, Aston Villa and Everton are weighing January moves for Conor Gallagher, per fussball-news.de (31 Oct). The German outlet says all three clubs hold interest but no concrete negotiations have started.
