Benjamin Šeško

Executive Summary

Benjamin Šeško, born on 31 May 2003, is a Slovenian centre-forward who currently leads the line for Manchester United. He represents the focal point of the club's attack under manager Michael Carrick. Having arrived with a massive reputation, the young striker is navigating the intense pressure of leading the line at Old Trafford.

Playing Style and Key Attributes

Standing at 195 cm, Šeško is a physically imposing, right-footed striker who excels in aerial duels. He demonstrated this aerial prowess recently by coming off the bench to score a powerful header against Everton. His height and build make him a natural target man, yet he possesses the mobility required to lead a modern press. While still developing his consistency in the Premier League, his raw physical profile and clinical instincts in the box give Carrick a reliable focal point.

Career and Recent Context

His journey began in Slovenia, moving from NK Krsko U17 to NK Domzale U17 in January 2018. Red Bull Salzburg secured his talents in January 2019 for €2.5m, immediately loaning him to FC Liefering to mature. By June 2021, he returned to Salzburg's first team, and a €31.6m move to RB Leipzig followed in January 2023. Manchester United signed him in September 2025 for €76.5m, establishing him as their primary offensive weapon. He has recently worked his way back from injury, scoring his first goal of the season to put United ahead in an eventual 2-2 draw against Everton.

Transfers and Outlook

With a contract running until 30 June 2030, Manchester United have secured Šeško for the long term. While United have explored depth options like Brentford's Igor Thiago, any move depends on Joshua Zirkzee's future, leaving Šeško's starting role secure.
