Athanasios Androutsos

Executive Summary

Athanasios Androutsos, born on 6 May 1997, operates as a central midfielder for OFI Crete in the Super League. The right-footed Greek stands 182 cm tall and joined the Heraklion club in January 2025 on a contract running until June 2029. He has featured regularly in the early weeks of the 2026‑27 campaign, logging 385 minutes across domestic and European fixtures while contributing a goal.

Playing Style and Key Attributes

FMInside categorises him as an advanced playmaker, a role that matches his tendency to arrive late in the box and link midfield to attack. His recent match logs show comfort playing full 90‑minute stretches against sides such as Rennes and AEK Athens, indicating adequate stamina and tactical discipline. Defensively he contributes interceptions and positional cover, though his discipline record remains clean in the current sample.

Career and Recent Context

Androutsos graduated from the Olympiacos academy and made his senior debut for the Piraeus giants in 2015. A move to Atromitos Athens in 2019 provided regular first‑team football before a return to Olympiacos a year later. Spells at VfL Osnabrück in the German lower tiers followed in 2024, first as a returnee then as a loanee, before OFI Crete secured his services permanently in January 2025. Since arriving in Heraklion he has been part of a side that lifted the 2025‑26 Greek Cup, earned a historic Europa League group‑stage berth, and recorded a statement victory over Olympiacos at the start of the new season. The club has won all four home matches in 2026‑27 and kept four consecutive clean sheets at Pankritio Stadium.

Transfers and Outlook

His contract at OFI Crete runs until summer 2029, giving the club strong leverage should interest emerge from abroad. The Europa League exposure and consistent minutes at a club on an upward trajectory make him a candidate for a step up, though no concrete approaches have surfaced in the current window. A strong second half of the season could reignite speculation.
