Abdellah Ouazane

Executive Summary

Born on 15 January 2009, Abdellah Ouazane is a right-footed attacking midfielder playing for Ajax U21. The Moroccan international stands 184 cm tall and has already made his first-team debut for the Dutch club. Educated in the Ajax academy, he operates centrally or from wide areas, using his technical foundation in tight spaces to push into senior football.

Playing Style and Key Attributes

Ouazane plays primarily as an attacking midfielder or as an inverted left winger. His game is built around soft ball control, high-quality first contact, and short-passing link-up play. Receiving the ball under pressure in central areas, he looks for early combinations to direct attack tempo rather than relying on pure one-on-one pace. He uses body feints and subtle changes of direction to shift past defenders and break defensive blocks.

From wide starting positions, he moves vertically along the touchline or cuts inside to shoot, cross, and thread final passes. His tendency to take risks on key passes can lead to occasional turnovers. The main area requiring improvement is his work rate without the ball. Ajax coaching staff have noted that he needs to raise his off-the-ball focus and defensive contribution across all phases of play.

Career and Recent Context

Ouazane started his youth training at AVV Zeeburgia before moving to Ajax in January 2016. He progressed through the De Toekomst academy and made the step to Ajax U21 in January 2025. Integrated into the reserve side in the Eerste Divisie, he scored his first professional goals against Willem II and FC Den Bosch in early 2026.

He made his competitive senior debut for Ajax on 17 December 2025, entering as a substitute for Youri Regeer in a 7–2 KNVB Cup win against Excelsior. His performances in the domestic setup led to his first call-up for the senior Morocco national team.

Transfers and Outlook

A proposed move to Real Madrid fell through in 2025, leading Ouazane to stay with Ajax. On 26 August 2025, he signed a professional contract with the Amsterdam club running until 30 June 2028. Major European scouts continue to monitor his development as Ajax manages his transition into regular senior football.
