Barcelona, Liverpool and Real Madrid are all tracking Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck, with several outlets reporting the three clubs see him as a long-term defensive option. Fichajes.net states Barcelona have reactivated their interest, citing Hansi Flick’s admiration for the German defender.
His Dortmund contract runs to 30 June 2031, and the club itself posted on 15 November 2025 that he will not renew, putting him on the market for the following summer. The rumour resurfaced on 28 and 29 September 2026, when Fichajes.net and Bulinews both picked up Ekrem Konur’s claim of active interest from Barcelona. Yahoo Sports, however, reported on 17 July 2026 that a move was unlikely: Schlotterbeck’s release clause had expired on 15 July and an injury was keeping him out until September. No source reports a formal offer or a fee. Borussia Dortmund’s own post from 15 November 2025 stated Schlotterbeck will not renew, placing him on the market for next summer.
Yahoo Sports says the release clause is gone and the injury blocks a summer move.
