What we know
Atlético Mineiro vice-president Paulo Bracks has denied any interest in signing Luiz Araújo from Flamengo, stating the club has no plans to negotiate for the winger. This denial, reported by O TEMPO Sports on 6 August, directly contradicts earlier reports of interest from the club.
Araújo's contract at Flamengo runs to December 2027. The rumour surfaced in May, with Torcedores.com reporting on 6 May that Atlético Mineiro planned an official offer from July. Sporting News, citing Guilherme Frossard, echoed the interest on 7 May, noting the club's intention to make an offer in the upcoming window. Both outlets described a proactive approach from the Minas Gerais side. O TEMPO Sports is the only source to explicitly deny the move, with Bracks' statement closing the door on the speculation. No source reports a formal offer having been made.
The earlier reports from Torcedores.com and Sporting News remain unconfirmed by any subsequent developments.
