What we know
Napoli are tracking Monza centre‑forward Gustavo Varela and could move for him in the January window, according to a cluster of Italian outlets. Gazzetta.it first flagged the interest, noting that Arsenal and Benfica are also watching the player.
His Monza contract runs to June 2030. The story opened on 21 Oct when Gazzetta.it, Football Italia and YSScores all echoed the same claim. Yahoo Sports added on 23 Oct that Napoli could try to sign him in January. FootballTransfers reported on 26 Oct that the link exists but no concrete deal has materialised. Goal repeated the interest on 27 Oct, describing Varela as a backup option for Hojlund.
FootballTransfers explicitly says no formal offer has arrived, and none of the later pieces report a bid.
